A skirt that  fits well and looks great is essential part of your wardrobe.  Planning to purchase the skirt online or mail order catalogue, you need to know your size.

Skirt Size Measurements Guide

How to take Measurements for Skirt Size

Waist and Hip measurements are needed for skirt size.

Where to Measure Waist

  1. The waist measurement is taken at the natural waist.
  2. Tie a  flat cord or ribbon around the slimmest part of your waist (as a reference point).
  3. Measure around the body over the cord keeping the tape measure parallel to the floor.
  4. Place thumb or finger underneath tape measure to have some ease and to prevent skirt being tight at waist.

Where to Measure Hips

  1. Measure around the fullest part of the hips.
  2.
  3. Fullest part of your hip is approximately 7 - 9 inches (18cm - 23cm) from your natural waist(where the cord is tied).
  4. Place thumb or finger underneath tape measure to have some ease and to prevent the measurement being taken too tight.

Note: If the circumference(width) of your upper thigh measurement is larger than the circumference (width) of your hips, record the thigh measurement for the hip measurement.

How to Measure Skirt Length

  1. Measure from waist (at the center of the body) in a straight line to the desired length of the skirt(Blue line).

How to Tell Your Skirt Size

Now, you have taken measurements, how to figure out your skirt size.

  1. Compare your waist and hip measurements to the measurements in the size chart.
  2. Select the skirt size close to your measurements.
  3. If your measurements fall between two sizes, select the larger size.
